We're two sisters and young entrepreneurs who have learned, through our travels, just how much cultural heritage, community, and new perspectives can teach us. We love coffee, and we've seen it bring people together all over the world.

So as we pursue our business studies at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, we wanted to start a venture of our own. Our goal is to show that doing good and building a successful business can go hand in hand. Sustainability, ethical growing, women's leadership across the supply chain, community, and social impact aren't obstacles to success. They're at the heart of it.

Meet Dax

We're excited to have Dax Grecian representing Buna Beans in Kansas. As part of our sales team, Dax helps introduce our coffee to customers and businesses across the Kansas City area. We're grateful to have him helping grow the Buna Beans community.

About us

At Buna Beans, coffee is more than a drink. It's a story, a tradition, and a way to bring people together. Founded by sisters Ellison and Briony Brown, Buna Beans was built on a shared love for coffee and its power to connect people of all ages and backgrounds through conversation, community, and culture.

From the farm to your cup, we choose specialty coffees that support women across the coffee supply chain. As a woman-led business, we proudly work with women farmers, women retailers, and a female veteran of the coffee industry who leads our roasting.

Every bag you enjoy helps us give back. With every purchase, 5% of our net profits support rural education for girls and boys in Colombia's coffee-growing communities, helping the next generation thrive where coffee begins.

Our name comes from the Ethiopian word for coffee and the traditional Buna ceremony, where beans are roasted, ground, and brewed in front of guests as an act of hospitality and community. Ethiopia, often called the birthplace of coffee, inspires our mission: to bring people closer, one story and one brew at a time.
