The Farms
The Selva Blend is a journey through three vibrant landscapes—each with its own rhythm, altitude, and story. From the cloud forests of Nicaragua to the volcanic plateaus of Sumatra and the páramo-covered peaks of Colombia, this blend honors the farmers and traditions that shape every bean.
In Jinotega, Nicaragua, Claudia Vanessa Rivera founded La Virgen Estate with a vision of environmental stewardship and community uplift. At 1,270 meters in the Las Nubes region, Claudia cultivates Caturra and Catuai with meticulous care—overseeing every step from harvest to milling. Her work has transformed a remote region into a source of opportunity and exceptional coffee.
From the Lintong plateau of Sumatra, our long-standing partnership with a local mill brings us coffee grown on small farms interplanted with sustenance crops. Here, a group of women perform a rare triple-picking process—hand-sorting beans three times to remove defects. The coffee is wet-hulled and dried in stages, resulting in its signature blue-green hue and earthy depth. It’s a labor-intensive method that reflects the region’s biodiversity and the producers’ devotion to quality.
In Colombia’s Eastern Andes, the Cattleya regional blend comes from hundreds of smallholder farmers across Tequendama and Lengupá provinces. Grown between 1,200 and 2,000 meters on the Cundiboyacense plateau—home to the world’s largest concentration of páramos—this coffee benefits from complex microclimates and rich cultural heritage. Farmers cultivate Colombia, Castillo, and Caturra varietals, processing them with care in local mills using traditional washed methods.
Selva means “forest” in Spanish—and this blend is just that: a layered expression of altitude, biodiversity, and human resilience. It’s a tribute to the women, families, and ecosystems that make specialty coffee possible.

Coffee Culture and History
Selva—Spanish for “forest”—is a blend rooted in three distinct landscapes, each with its own coffee legacy.
Sumatra
Coffee from Sumatra is known for its earthy depth and syrupy body, shaped by the island’s humid climate and unique wet-hulling process (giling basah). The region’s smallholder farmers often work in cooperatives, preserving traditional methods and biodiversity.
Colombia
Colombia is one of the most recognized coffee origins globally, with over 500,000 coffee-growing families. Its mountainous terrain and microclimates produce beans with bright acidity, silky body, and notes of chocolate and citrus. Colombia’s coffee-growing regions are so integral to its identity that UNESCO designated them a World Heritage Landscape.
Nicaragua
Nicaraguan coffees add gentle sweetness and cocoa undertones to the blend. Grown in volcanic soil at high elevations, these beans offer balance and clarity. Nicaragua’s coffee industry rebounded after political upheaval in the 1980s, with a renewed focus on quality and sustainability.
Selva brings these origins together in a smooth, medium roast that’s versatile and quietly bold—crafted to honor the land, the growers, and the ritual of the cup.

Selva
Selva—Spanish for “jungle”—is a tribute to the rich, tropical landscapes where this blend begins. Sourced from women-led farms, using 100% washed Arabica beans, and roasted by our female roasting partner, Selva brings together three distinct origins to create a cup that’s smooth, balanced, and quietly bold.
